Winner of First Prize at the 12th "Salvador Seguí" International Chamber Music Competition in Montserrat (Valencia). This composition is structured based on two factors. On the one hand, we have the rhythmic relationships, whose main idea lies in providing a pulse that changes around a rhythmic figure that serves as a pivot. Thus, virtually all tempo changes are structured around a rhythmic modulation, interrelating with each other. On the other hand, the composition is structured thematically using a series of seven notes (D-Eb-C-B-D-C#-D#) that is treated freely. This set of notes does not appear completely at the beginning of the piece, but rather is built and destroyed throughout the composition. In this way, the composer attempts to musicalize the effect of anterograde amnesia, since this neurological disorder prevents the creation of new memories from a traumatic event or occurrence for the affected person. Thus, throughout the various rhythmic modulations and sections, the melody grows in number of notes (emulating the creation of memories) until reaching the central section, in which the traumatic event is signaled by a series of stamping feet on the ground by some members of the quintet. From that moment on, the melody gradually transforms and diminishes in length until the end, where it is presented in its minimal form with only two notes, thus attempting to imitate the impossibility of creating new memories.
