This oboe concerto was commissioned by the musician from Bétera, Juanvi Gil Fuentes, who, wanting to perform as a soloist with his band, could not find any piece that met his expectations. Therefore, he asked the composer and conductor of the band to write a work for this purpose. Thus was born this “Concertino, ma non poco”, conceived with the intention of creating a solo part that allows the oboe to display its full expressive and virtuosic potential, accompanied by simple orchestration that in no movement overshadows the soloist. Its three movements are: I. Humoresque, II. Lamento Pastoral, and III. Circense. None of them are descriptive; they merely evoke the character of the music in each one.
