This composition is a tribute to the Cantigas de Amigo, attributed to the Galician troubadour Martín Codax. Therefore, all the melodic, rhythmic, and even harmonic material, in many respects, is taken from Cantigas I, II, III, and, to a lesser extent, VII (limited to a small, modified quotation on Baritone Saxophone and Bass Clarinet from the 54th century). The most frequently used melodic motif comes from Cantigas I (Ondas do Mar de Vigo), and we can find it accompanied by a rhythmic motif that is often present, also taken from the same cantigas (based on the transcription by Manuel Pedro Ferreira).
